Why we only work one town

Trees are local. A crew that bounces between climates learns a little about a lot of trees. That knowledge shows up in the quote. We can usually tell you what is wrong with a tree from the driveway, and we can tell you what it is going to do in the next five years. That is worth more to you than a lower hourly rate.

How we price

A written number for the specific work described, given in person, before anything starts. Not an hourly rate, not a range, not a verbal estimate that grows once the saws are running. If we underbid a job, that is our mistake to absorb.

Cleanup is included in every price we quote. Brush chipped, wood cut and stacked where you want it or hauled away, work area raked and blown. You should not be able to tell we were there except that the tree is gone.

What we tell people they do not need

We turn down work regularly, and it is the part of the job we are proudest of. A homeowner calls about taking out a maple and the maple is fine. It needs weight off two limbs and a drink. Another calls about a yellow ornamental and thinks it is dying, and the ground is just too alkaline for the iron that tree needs.

When our crews handle disease calls, the honest answer is often "water it properly, mulch it correctly, and call us in two years." Saying that costs us an invoice today and earns the call when something real happens. Same with pruning: we will not top a tree because a customer asked us to, and we will explain why in plain language rather than just refusing.

Insurance, licensing, and why you should ask

We are licensed, and we carry general liability plus workers' compensation. Ask for the certificate. Any legitimate company will send it without hesitating.

The reason this matters is not paperwork. If an uninsured climber is injured in your yard, your homeowner policy is what he goes after. Tree work has one of the highest injury rates of any trade in the country. The cheap bid is cheap for a reason, and the reason is usually that nobody is paying for coverage.

When we answer the phone

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. That is when estimates get scheduled and when routine work happens.

Emergency calls after a windstorm are different. When a tree is on a house, across a driveway, or hung up over a power drop, that phone gets answered outside business hours and somebody comes out. Storms here do not keep an appointment book, and neither do we when it counts.
